Data Visualizer

The World Bank’s Data Visualizer has been customized to draw on WDR 2011 team data related to civil war, homicides, terrorism, and trafficking, as well as socio-economic, demographic and political data. The tool allows users to see geographic and thematic trends over time.

The Data Visualizer uses “bubbles” to display data in four dimensions.  The circles in each bubble chart represent different data values, with the size of the circle corresponding to their value. The position of the bubbles is determined by the indicators on each of the other axes. To see the exact value of a circle on the chart, simply move your mouse over it. When you press play, the chart will show the progression of your selected countries and indicators over time.

Another useful feature is that the Data Visualizer allows users to take full control of the design and layout of the chart. Not only can users choose specific indicators, but they can customize the color of countries, regions, income and lending groups and track specific countries. Users also have the option to filter data and create customizable groups.
